Military Police Probing $50,000 Coin Theft at CFB Kingston Post Office: Canada Post Targeted in Heist.

The Kingston Military Police are actively investigating the theft of valuable silver and gold coins from the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) post office in Kingston, Ontario. The incident took place on Thursday, Jan. 18, when five packages containing a total of $50,000 worth of coins were dropped off at the post office around 9:45 a.m.

Approximately 15 minutes later, a male suspect entered the post office carrying a distinctive blue and black foldable cart. The individual claimed ownership of the packages and provided a fraudulent Ontario driver’s license bearing the actual owner’s name.

Authorities were oblivious to the theft until the genuine owner of the packages visited the post office on Jan. 18 to collect the items. It was then revealed that the packages had been picked up the day before, raising suspicions about the false identification provided by the suspect.

The suspect is described as a French-speaking individual with a height between five-foot-eight and five-foot-nine. At the time of the theft, he was dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie, wearing a blue medical mask. The perpetrator seemed to be aware of the weight of the packages, arriving with a blue and black foldable cart.

The Kingston Military Police are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and contact them at 613-541-5010 ext. 5676. Additionally, tips can be emailed to Harrison.Swinson@forces.gc.ca.
